“Dapper Monsieur Marcel wine bar looks a little out of place in the time-worn Farmers Market. Tucked away in the southeast corner, its U-shaped butcher block-style bar, topped with tea-light candles and bud vases, offers a romantic and soothing respite from the bustling, open-air market. The affable and knowledgeable staff will navigate your wine selection to the Monsieur Marcel house label, another French vintage, further selections from Europe or even select Californian wine without even a hint of wine snobbery.”

“This cozy little spot tucked in the corner of the historic Farmers market is an offshoot of the popular wine and cheese store.
Chatty locals love meeting at the flower-dressed tables – or sidling up at the wine bar – for a fun, civilized session of dining, sipping and conversation at this attitude-free enclave. Nearly everything on the menu – country pate sandwiches, fondue, charcuterie and cheese – is under $20. The wine list isn’t extensive, but it’s well-selected; If you’re afraid of ordering anything beyond “something pink” the Wednesday or Thursday evening tasting classes will get you schooled in no time. The happy hour (Mon-Fri 3pm-6pm) is also very popular.”
