   Wine Bar Reviews:

CitySearch

“The lofty interior features exposed-duct ceiling, light-maple floors and dark-wood wine cabinetry. A shiny tasting bar is set up with aluminum barstools, and easily doubles as an espresso bar depending on the hour of day. Lunchtime is a catwalk of biz-execs nibbling their way through a finger food menu of salad trios and pressed panini. Evenings feature more of a true wine bar crowd with artsy locals indulging in the 2000-plus wine cellar, communal cheese, charcuterie platters and dessert.” – Michael Martin

“This Culver City wine bar and shop offers a selection of small plates prepared with top-quality ingredients. The wine offerings include many interesting, eclectic selections from appellations around the globe; pair them with smoked salmon with crème fraîche, artichokes and lemon; foie gras "Fig Newton" with almonds and mint; a charcuterie plate; and a nice assortment of domestic and international cheeses. Panini and salads are also offered. Sit outside on the patio or inside for an eagle-eye view of the knowledgeable staff in action.”

“Rare is the wine bar with a friendly, youthful vibe and a soundtrack featuring Pearl Jam. Rarer still is the concept here: The bar is also a shop, and if a customer wants to buy a glass before taking home a bottle, no problem.”

“A friend walks into a bar and says to the bartender, “Break out the Montrachet 1978! She’s buying!” and points at you.

You mutter something that rhymes with “Two-Buck Chuck” (and it ain’t “just my luck”).

Hang out at BottleRock, the new wine shop, tasting room, and bar opening today in Culver City, and learn how never to be steamrolled into buying the most expensive wine on the planet ever again.

You’ll pick up other handy tidbits, too. Like how to navigate your way through scores of wines by the glass and the hundreds of varieties on hand they are happy to let you taste.

If food is where you get fooled (conned into picking up the caviar again?), have them teach you a thing or two about pairing vittles with your vino. They’ll walk you through their menu of cheese, charcuterie, tapas, paninis, and specialty chocolates.”

And soon enough you’ll be the one calling the shots. Maybe even the very pricey ones.

Well, depending on who’s buying.
