Grape Trivia!
Have you ever sat there staring into your glass of wine wondering about the little details? Who picked the grapes, what was the weather like, how did the whole process go? Or, did you just wonder how many of those little grapes did it take to make that bottle of wine. Well I can answer that question for you! Your job is to follow along with all the numbers! Ready? Here we go.
A ton of grapes yields about 144 gallons of wine
There are 2.4 gallons of wine in a case (12 bottles).
A ton of wine will produce about 60 cases.
Since there are 12 bottles in a case, a ton of grapes makes roughly 720 bottles of wine.
The average wine bottle holds .750 ml.
Each bottle of wine requires about 2.78 pounds of grapes.
To sum it all up: it takes about 630 grapes to produce one bottle of wine.
Whew! All that math made me thirsty. I guess I’ll go drink 630 grapes now!
Cheers!
