While it may feel like fall where you are, it’s still summer in LA., and I feel like sharing more summer tips and sips!
Like bell bottoms, feathered hair or corduroys - the trends keep coming back. Some trends I accept with open arms, others I prefer to completely deny their existence. There’s one trend I just can’t get enough of and I’m glad it’s back.
Re-Introducing: The Wine Spritzer! While the normal rule of thumb is to never water down your wine, here’s the exception.
Grab a big glass, throw in some ice, club soda (or 7-up if you like it sweet) and top it off with a nice, crisp white wine. I recommend a Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc. The wine doesn’t need to be expensive, any old bottle will do. After all, you’re putting stuff in it! Throw in a slice of lime or lemon and bottoms up! It’s light, refreshing and bubbly! Spritzers have a low alcohol content which make them perfect for an afternoon drink. It’s probably the only time when it’s okay to drink your wine with a straw!
Wine Spritzers were all the rage in the 70s when lots of people mixed Perrier with their white wine. This summer I noticed this trend coming back big time. In nearly every bar I visited I heard people ordering Spritzers and not once did the bartender look surprised or ask “what on earth is that?” Some bars even had special Spritzer glasses! I knew I was on to something when I went to a friend’s baby shower and wine Spritzers were the drink of choice. (Did I mention the shower was at 9 am?)
So hurry before the summer ends and go get “spritzed!”
Cheers!
