Cheers Mom!

It's that time of year again when we all try to figure out what to get our moms for mother's day. How do you repay someone for bringing you into this world and raising you into the amazing person that you are (or think you are)?

Every year I believe I'm going to write this beautiful poem that will have my mom crying and weeping and wondering how I grew up to be the best daughter ever. And every year my mom gets flowers and a sappy hallmark card that doesn't even bring a tear. So this year, I'm doing it right. When in doubt give wine as a present!

Here are some ideas to delight your mom on Mother's Day this year:

Wine Gift Baskets - of course the ones you order online are gorgeous and flawless, but don't underestimate your own talent. Buy a cute basket, line it with tissue paper or pretty fabric, buy a good red and white wine, put a couple wine glasses, a wine opener, throw some crackers, nuts or chocolates, a framed picture of you, and tie a little bow on top. Wine of the Month Club - if you were an awesome child, you would send your mom a bottle of wine she would enjoy every month. But sometimes we barely have time to get to the store to buy our own wine so how about signing her up for a wine club and they do all the work. Book or Wine Magazine Subscription - sometimes all people need is a good tool to get them started on the path to learning about wine. You could buy your mom a subscription to Wine Spectator. Or get her a great book about wine. Since my book is not yet published, some good ones are Wine for Dummies or The Complete Idiots Guide to Wine.

The best gift to give! - Buy her a ticket for the soon-to-be-talk-of-the-town Woof & Wine - our 1st Annual Wine Tasting & Auction to raise money for Boxer Rescue LA. It's happening on June 8th at 7pm at the Radisson at LAX. She can taste some great wine, have a fun time and help improve the lives of more than 100 homeless Boxers. If you're not in LA, so what?
