Bag It!

Even a classy broad like me can make a wine faux pax. (I know – it’s shocking!) I got busted by my even classier friends when I brought wine in a plastic bag to their dinner party. These days when you B.Y.O.B (bring your own bottle) to a restaurant or home you can easily find a wine tote to save your dignity as well as your wine!

There are so many cool wine totes available that the words “paper” or “plastic” should never be a worry again. Let me share some of of the fun and fashionable totes that you should consider for your next BYOB experience.

Neoprene Wine Tote
These fun totes look like wine in a wetsuit and come in a variety of colors and sizes. They help keep the wine insulated and protect your wine from breakage. They are clink proof! They are so affordable they make an excellent “wrapping” for wine given as a gift. You can find them at wine shops, sporting goods stores, online and grocery stores like Bristol Farms. More

Leather Wine Tote
Honestly I can’t think of why you would want one of these unless you’re really into leather, you are an international spy or you are bringing a bottle of wine to a business dinner and it matches your briefcase! They are classy but pricey. More

Aluminum Wine Tote
These are very high tech looking and flashy. Good for bringing to picnics and can double as a shield against swords or bullets. More

Picnic Basket Wine Tote
These are my favorite as every picnic or hike should involve wine. There are many different kinds of picnic totes from backpacks to shoulder bags. Many come completely stocked for your picnic. I prefer canvas over wicker which is so 80’s. My favorite is the Pioneer Picnic Basket, which comes with a cutting board and a blanket! More

Decorative wine boxes
Visit any discount home store like Ross, TJ Max or Marshalls and stock up on very cool decorative cardboard wine boxes and cases at rock bottom prices. Great as a way to give wine as a gift.

Wine Bag
These low cost and low tech bags are specifically for gift giving, not very sturdy for anything else but it is better than my grocery store bag that got me into so much trouble.

So never make the mistake that I did so long ago and show yourself as a wine bag lady. You now know how easy it is to look fabulous when making an entrance with your B.Y.O.B in a fantastic wine tote.
